Homework Policy

Students record their homework assignments in their planners first thing in the morning.  At the end of the day, we review assignments and check mailboxes to make sure students have and understand their homework.

Reading:  Your child is expected to read at home each night for twenty minutes or more.  A signed reading slip should be returned to school Monday through Friday.  If two reading slips are missing in any week, students will be required to read at recess.

Spelling: Spelling shapes, sentences, and ABC order will be coming home weekly.  Assignments are as follows unless otherwise noted in student planners: spelling shapes on Monday, spelling sentences on Tuesday, and ABC order on Wednesday.  If spelling is missing on Friday, students will complete the activity at recess.

Math, Writing, and Other Assignments: Other activities will be coming home as well. Please check and sign your child's planner nightly to review work.  If other assignments are missing, students will complete them at recess.

Homework will be, for the most part, practice of concepts taught that day or review work from previous lessons.  Should you find that your child is struggling with homework or is spending a great deal of time completing it please notify me as soon as possible.
