We have been very busy and working real hard on all of our kindergarten
skills. Every child has succeeded and has improved greatly! We hope that you
all had a safe and happy holiday season. Thank you all for your thoughtful
gifts and wishes that were sent our way!
Recently we assessed your child and started them on a home/school reading
program. The children are excited about their progress and are doing real
well. Please remember to write one or two sentences on the reading report
about how your child read to you. Your comments are helping me to know what
your child learned and remembered from his or her practice in class. We will
try to send home a new book every day however; meeting with each individual
child everyday can be time consuming. If your child comes home without a
book one day he or she will come home with one on the next. Keep up your
great work at home. Parent partners are so important!
I am going to start my unit on Mail and would like to incorporate
Valentines Day cards with this unit. I will need your assistance in helping
your child write a card to each student in his or her class. I will send
home a class list and both assistants’ names. You need to have your child
write whom the card is for and whom the card is from. Over the weekend I
would like you and your child to create a mailbox (from a tissue box or a
shoebox). The mailbox must have a slot for the mail and a label for your
child’s name. Be creative and decorate the mailbox with your child. We will
need the mailboxes by Monday, February 9th. We will start
distributing Valentines on Monday. Have your child be prepared to bring in
four a day (this will elevate a crazy day on Friday). The cards will go home
with your child on Friday, February 13th and the mailboxes will
stay for the remainder of the Mail unit.
Thank you again for all your help at home! Look soon for another letter
asking for chaperones for a walk to the post office.
